Syntroleum/Sinopec to build 17,000bpd gas-to-liquid plant |

TULSA, OKLAHOMA, February 20 -- US synthetic fuel specialist Syntroleum plans to build a 17,000 barrel per day natural gas-to-liquids (GTL) plant in China in cooperation with China Petroleum & Chemical Corporation (Sinopec) as part of a non-binding MOU between the two companies designed to advance gas- and coal-to-liquid technology and gain market share in China.
The two companies will also build a 100 barrel per day coal-to-liquids (CTL) pilot plant.
Under the terms of the MOU, Syntroleum will provide Sinopec access to its complete set of proprietary GTL technologies, including catalyst technology and Fischer-Tropsch technologies related to CTL for use in China on an exclusive basis during the period of cooperation.
Both the GTL and CTL plants will be fully capitalised by Sinopec, with technological support from Syntroleum.
"We have conducted many years of research and testing on Fischer-Tropsch technology," said Cao Xianghong, chief engineer of Sinopec. "We are convinced that Syntroleum's slurry column reactor technology is one of the most advanced in the world," he said. |
