HONG KONG, February 22 -- A perfect storm of outside technical calamity - the Taiwanese earthquake in late December - striking simultaneously as we relaunched onto a new content management system, together with a software glitch on our host's server, a criminally botched fund transfer from the UK (thumbs down to Capita Registrars and HSBC...) and HSBC closing our Hong Kong bank account due to lack of funds (a very modern foreclosure on a business which has no debt!), saw us out of action for nearly two months.
But now we're back!
Thanks to Jump Web Services for keeping Media Karma's account live without any sign of payment for several months; to my folks who visited and made sure me and the dog were well fed; and, most of all, to Cynthia (Yick Man Yuen) without whom this site just wouldn't happen. Cynthia's Christmas present to me was a hand-carved stamp of a Chinese translation of "Blue Skies China" - well, with support like that, who needs a bank account?
Also thanks to all those who continued to visit the old site while this one was languishing at the bottom of the South China Sea. It seems the archived stories are just as popular as the daily updates - thanks to Google for featuring Blue Skies China at the top of many search strings and at least keeping the publisher sane enough to maintain hope during this difficult period.
I hope to re-establish our position as the number one provider of China environmental news as quickly as I can. Let us know if there's anything we can do!
