Leading climate change law firm Mallesons Stephen Jaques has written an article summarizing the latest climate change negotiation texts released by the UN, together with a review of China’s COP15 position paper published last week.

According to the article, written by Mallesons Stephen Jaques partner Christopher Tung, China’s position statement contains few surprises. “In essence, China maintains the position that as a developing country and consistent with the principle of common by differentiated responsibilities, it cannot be expected to adopt binding emission reduction or intensity targets at this stage of its national development,” writes Tung.
