Siemens’ first offshore wind power outside Europe, the 50MW Jiangsu Rudong Offshore Wind Power Plant began operation last month.

The plant consists of 21 2.3MW Siemens wind turbines, and is situated off the north-east coast of China about 150km north Shanghai. The plant is owned by Jiangsu Longyuan Offshore Wind Power Co., a subsidiary of one of the world’s largest wind energy project developers China Longyuan Power Group Corporation. The scope of delivery from Siemens also includes a five-year service and maintenance agreement.
